Hot Milk's upcoming sophomore album, Corporation P.O.P., is a bold and unflinching reflection on a world in turmoil - delivered through a sharp, distinctly British lens that balances wit with universality.
Drawing on her background in politics, frontwoman Han Mee channels global frustrations into a rallying cry throughout Corporation P.O.P. “I've always felt like a bit of a white knight—it’s my duty to save the world somehow,” Han explains. “The world’s issues hit me hard. I actually wanted to be an MEP [Member of European Parliament]—that was my dream.”
While its themes are global, the album remains deeply rooted in the band’s hometowns of Manchester and Salford. Every video for the album was shot locally, reinforcing the personal ties behind the project. “Newt Gingrich, a U.S. politician, once said, ‘All politics is local,’” Han notes. “That really stuck with me. I focus on my immediate surroundings—that’s how I survive when the world feels too big.”
Her love for Manchester runs deep. Having once planned a permanent move to Los Angeles, Han reversed course when the pull of home became too strong. “Manchester is the best f***ing city in the world,” she says, visibly emotional. “This band started here. It’s part of who I am. That has to bleed into our art—it’s what shaped me.”
Produced by the band’s own Jim Shaw alongside Zach Jones and KJ Strock, Corporation P.O.P. captures Hot Milk at their most ferocious. Written intensively and recorded live, the album brims with raw energy, unfiltered emotion, and unapologetic lyricism.
A searing portrait of present-day anxieties and future uncertainties, Corporation P.O.P. may feel like a time capsule now—but with its fearless spirit and emotional depth, it’s bound to endure.
